At Sliding Door Photography, I capture memories based on your real life stories. In an age of filters, staged content and comparison, my practice exists to quieten the noise and return to what matters: Bringing photography back to its raw essence - a permanent snapshot of human emotions and stories, existing when the shutter releases and caught in less than a second.

If you’re searching for high-quality images that document and archive your essence and most significant life events, then welcome home.

My work is born from a fierce desire to linger on, capture and illuminate those fleeting moments that transition us from one time to another. They often go unnoticed and can be quickly forgotten with the passage of time.

THE BABA DESI STORY

Man in traditional attire sitting on a porch, playing a stringed instrument surrounded by various tools and decorations.

Baba Desi, my friend, my muse, quite simply is Belgrave. The 94yr old ancient Belgrave Wizard, or the Pirate, as he is known to the young ones, is our very own urban legend. He serves as a mirror, reflecting the creative soul that inhabits the hills. The Yarra Ranges have long been known for the arts and Baba Desi is our story. Our small town character. Quite simply he is our Totem. Baba Desi is himself, a living, walking art canvas. A style icon in his nineties, he has an exquisite eye for fabric ,colour, and texture. His unique handmade wizard staffs, all with a unique talisman sitting atop, have long fascinated all who cross his path. Adorned with dream catchers that catch the wind, and bells that herald his arrival, his staffs are unique and beautiful. Everyday his long legs stride, rain or sunshine, through the forested misty trails and vales of the Dandenong Yarra Ranges. With a Wizard staff in hand, bells and chimes announcing his arrival, he exudes colour and positivity to all whom he greets. Consider yourself blessed if you catch a glimpse of him and hear a cheery “have a nice day”. I will never tire of capturing his image.
