This postcard l think shows a very cheeky side to Baba Desi. It was taken against the wall of the Cameo Cinema in his beloved town Belgrave. How a man in his 90’s can pull this off is beyond me. Very cool he looks dont you think?
And the saying - “ keep the bastards honest’?
Baba Desi once had a chance encounter with a man getting off the train. Their conversation was around government overreach. Desi said to him someone has to “keep the bastards honest” - referring to himself off course!!
So much of his life has been spent attempting to do this through political activism. Dont be afraid to be who you are and to use your voice he says. Stay true to yourself and your own uniqueness.
