Baba Desi has large, strong hands. Each finger is adorned with an eclectic collection of rings. Each ring , with its unique gemstone and design, symbolises the many facets of his journey through life.
These supple hands have held countless handmade staffs over the years as they accompany him on his long walks through the forests. On the back of his right hand, a tattoo with the Eureka and First Nations flag symbolise his affinity with social inclusion and defiance in the face of injustice.
This staff is his favourite. It is solid wood, and is curved like a serpent. It was gifted to him by the First Nations peoples. It has his name " Baba Desi "on a gold band that encircles the staff. The staff also has indigenous artwork dotted along its length.
